Mo ving Currents

Lilies and frangipanis have found us
afloat upon their currents, as they comb
round us
Strung together, our pale skin shines
like moontide. Your eyes appear different
to mine
You see me through deeper hues
blood of my blood, breath of my love
stay true
Your hands are pruned with lines
Fingers grooved with new prints
not mine
You pull lilies from pads for fun
watch them drown. This cannot be
un done
Place blossoms back in water
to sink or float, my son or
daugh ter
Will you ride this current out to sea?
What self-portraits will you be with
out me?
